Hi, my name is Azuwairie Bin Amir,26 years old, i'm a doctor in one of the hospital in Kota Bharu.
The purpose i write this message because i want to express my sadness about my mobile, a Chevrolet Cruze Special Edition that was bought in June 2011 at Malacca.
The first and foremost problem that occur to mine was, as soon as we arrived (me, my wife and mother in-law) in Kota Bharu from Malacca, the engine light suddenly on, called technician in Kota Bharu, they connected my car to a laptop and they said it was just code errors, and then they erased them (yes, plural of errors ).Problem solved for a while, and then the next day, it happen again, but resolved spontaneously without any technician to erased the code errors. This was continue for 2 months without any more error, it happen again and then resolved spontaneously.
After 4 months, just finished my first posting in Medicine Department, applied for leave for 4 days, me n my wife went back to Malacca to her parent house, luckily during journey, nothing happen to my Cruze.
But, 2nd day in Malacca, on my way to Tampin, engine light on again, then suddenly, the engine become jerky alongway the journey to Tampin and then back to Malacca. Brought my car to Malacca service centre, same thing they told me what was told by technician in Kota Bharu..just some code error, and then the erased them.
okay, my vacation is already over, wanted to go back to Kota Bharu, on my way, it happen again = engine light on, jerky engine, heavy feeling when u hit on throttle pedal. Again, sent to Malacca service centre, the said, then have to change transmission thingy thing that cost nearly RM 6K, again, im in lucky because still in warranty but i had to leave my car in Malacca and went back by flight. So my father in law used my car for almost 1 month, no complaint.
Then it happen again, while my parent in law on the way to Kota Bharu from Malacca, but this time this happen just before entering Gua Musang, and my parent still managed to drive the car to Kota Bharu carefully and slowly---took nearly 18 hrs to reach Kota Bharu from Malacca.
Once again, brought to Kota Bharu service centre, change transmission oil, then erased code error, then resolved.
And again today(29/11/2011), it happen again...
I hope the HQ can offer me, permanent solution...regarding this matter while my car still in warranty.i knew that Chevrolet is a established product and you guys will handle my case properly and as far as i know, im the only one that having this problem.
p/s ; im sorry for bad english, thank you.

Hi pakcikkayo,

Sorry to hear about your experience, I (and most likely the majority of the people in here) are not connected with Chevrolet services, in fact, I'm just another Cruze fan, or in my case, I'm still waiting for my Cruze to be delivered ...

Anyway, from what you've said, those error codes, have a meaning, and it should be investigated a cause for the problem, otherwise, the problem still persist. I'll give you an example, some years ago, I was driving during a heavy storm and for 3 times I've almost converted my car in to a boat ... the last time it did happen, the engine light came on, and the engine wouldn't go past 2k rpm (turbo diesel engine). Took my car to the service, they erased the error code, and they've told me that water got in to the intake sensor, and the car's computer entered in a some sort of "emergency procedure". In this case, it was enough to clear the error code and have a good cleaning on the intake ... but in your case, they should take a good a look at the error code and see where did it came from (instead of just erasing it), and fix something, if necessary.

The best of luck.
Regards

Sorry to hear about your experience. I too actually own a Cruze Special Edition in Malaysia and what you described to me happened to me once... The engine light came on and the car was hesitant to move from 80km/h. But that was when I was trying our Premium unleaded 97 fuel. What I did was pull my car aside, turn the car off and restarted the car and everything was fine. But the problem never occured again once i went back using 95 Ron fuel. You might want to have it looked at. Bring it to Chevrolet Kampung Baru as that is the HQ

Next time before erasing the code, find out what exactly it says. Only then will ppl be able to help you diagnose the issue.

Wow. What a good topic that exaclty the same as what I'm facing right now. Last 2 nights, I drove my cruze from Seremban to KL at speed between 110km/h to 130km/h. Suddenly, somewhere at Nilai 3, the car had a slight jerk and the ODO meter gone wild. In about 10 second later, the engine light came out. At the moment, I don't realize anything different accept the ODO meter gone wild. But when I reach the Sungai Besi toll (of coz i need to slow down) then I realized that my car was unable to accelerate. Then, when I reach Bukit Antarabangsa hill, i can't climb that hill!! Try to change to manual, but no gear indication appear at the dashboard...nothing happened.
Sent to Kg Baru SC this morning and just got a call from them. After they diagnose the car, they got code error. I've no idea what is that code error but it got to do something with TCM. When I google, it seems common to certain cruze, but as informed by the SC, this is the manufacture problem where my batch or unit might be one of the defect from the manufacturer. They plan to replace the unit. I hope, they are right.

pakcikkayo, do you still have the problem? Hope you can share with us.

Powerrr - I know if your automatic transmission's fluid drops below an acceptable level your RPM gauge will shoot up like crazy (ie your engine will reach 6,000 RPM's to travel 50 km/h). Eventually, your transmission will not go into gear and you won't be able to go anywhere at all. Your engine will run like normal but when you put the car into drive it will not move. Manual transmissions can function with little or no fluid but will cease up quickly.

This happened to me during rush hour traffic in my old car. The transmission fluid cooling hose running into my radiator was jolted loose when I hit a bump and I lost most of my transmission fluid.

I'm not a mechanic but to me it sounds like your transmission control unit is acting up or your transmission fluid level is low, tripping the sensor. Best of luck, hopefully you're up and running soon.

I'm sorry for the Dr. and I am sorry for all of you who said you bought a Cruze.

Mr. Amir,

I live in Thailand. Let me tell you, this is only the beginning. This is a sign of things to come. GM are in the business of scamming people. They will NOT fix your car under warranty. They will let it die and be out of warranty so they can charge you for the repairs.

Today I sold the car back to the dealer and let me tell you, life without a Cruze in my driveway is bliss. I can't remember a more stress free day in the last 6 months.
