After the fact I got this vehicle as it was fully loaded but no CD player. Why is this & is there a way to add one or a changer in the trunk?.

Lets see,  I have one tiny usb stick with 8,000 tracks ripped on it that the car catalogues and plays.  I can play playlists from it with hundreds of songs each.

Would I rather have that or a mechanical device with 40 or 50 songs available?

Volkswagen got around the lack of space by relocating the CD drive to the glove box.

I'm just as happy there is no CD in my Cruze.  But then, I access my favorite music with a thumb drive that has a few thousand tunes from my home computer. (in usb receptacle)  I seldom even use the fm radio stations.  I also do not even own a smart cell phone.  Instead I carry a notebook that connects to my dropbox account and my home network of six computers.  I can see the limitations that go with the wifi or hotspot as they call it, but think my year's 20 gigs for a year (to be replaced with unlimited monthly data) is a good and useful deal, even though I also have broadband wifi at home.  I like the up-scaled electronics, and so far love the feel of the car.  My only wish is that they should have a switched engine stop feature.  I still am surprised when it does and doesn't operate.  That new key type bugs me and the double pull on the hood drives me crazy.  I'm still evaluating, especially the function from an agm battery that has me checking morning voltage readings before I start the car. I hope I don't come in here looking for someone who needed to install another battery for a dual battery system like I had on my old van.

I'm new here and still getting used to the forum, so if I seem to be a hit or miss participant its because I'm at the age when I do dumb things 'every' day.  I had to lie on the registration and am 'much' more than 64  but rather not own up to how much.

Really, no CD? That's a shame. I still use CDs very often, out of sentiment or something I guess.

More and more auto makers are doing without the cd player, reasoning as for some of the replies posted here. The more old school you are, the more you will miss the cd player. There are external cd players for autos you can plug into your vehicle if you really need one. My old Subaru still had a tape player, which I used extensively. Imagine my horror knowing I would be soon disposing of my tape collection!
