I purchased a 2017 LS from the insurance company. Catch is it did not come with a key or the FOB. I have been calling around and get differing opinions on how to get a new key made.

It seems that I need to go to the dealership and get the key code. I can then take that code  along with the new FOB and blank to a locksmith who then "cuts" the key blank .

My question is how do I take the new FOB and lock/unlock the car? Or a better question is how the heck can I make this all happen?

P.S. I am trying to do this as inexpensive as possible. I can get a blank from ebay for $5, but it is not that simple anymore apparently.

Thanks in advance for any information that helps me understand the process.
