Good Morning Guys,
Sorry I have to post this here.
I have been having this problem with my Cruze 1.8LT automatic since day 1, and I did go back to the dealer regarding this, but they came back saying its normal.
Just want to find out from fellow forummers if this really is the case.
My cruze does not come with keyless start as per some countries, so its the usual key crank.
However, it does help you crank start the engine once I turned it to "Engine On" once, without holding. ( we normally have to key crank, and hold it there till the engine sounds engaged before we release).
In this case, on many occasions(on warm starts only), more than daily, I can hear the engine engaged, but the ignition continues to crank for another second or 2.
This sounds terrible on my new car, and I'm worried this will create issues for my cranking parts, and also my battery life in the long run.
It only happens on warm starts, and I have tried changing the engine oil, but the problem persists
Does any other cruze owners, have this problem?

As i understand it. The starter-motor keeps running thou the engine is started, and you have released the key ??

Absolutely.
Its like turning on a momentary switch to start an autocrank, but it almost always over crank on warm starts.
Since we're all driving a cruze, it should happen to every cruze owner, and not just me, as I am feeling at the moment...
I suspect the sensor to detect engine is running is cranky, and I wish GM would replace it for me, just like the climate control external environment thermistor. it always reports half-believable ambient temperature, ie. night temp is warmer than day temps. ( And the techs say they can't find fault with it)

I have a 1.6 LS manual shiftbox and I don`t have any of the troubles that your have mentioned.
I would say try another dealer may be they will find something?
good luck!
